Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
